What We Treat

Lumena Clinic supports people with a wide range of aches, pains, and movement problems – from sudden injuries to long-standing, recurring issues. Whether your symptoms started at work, in the gym, on the sports field, or seemingly “out of nowhere”, the focus is always on understanding how your whole body is moving, not just the area that hurts.

Lower back pain

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek help and can range from a dull, nagging ache to sharp, catching sensations that make it hard to bend, sit, or get comfortable. It may build up gradually with desk work and daily strain, or appear suddenly after lifting, twisting, or a busy day.

Neck Pain

Neck pain

Struggling with neck pain, stiffness, or a constant feeling of tightness across your shoulders? Neck pain can make it hard to turn your head, sleep comfortably, or focus at work, and may also cause headaches, tension, or pain spreading into the upper back and arms.

Prolapsed and Slipped Disc

Prolapsed and slipped disc

If you are suffering from ongoing back or leg pain from a slipped disc (disc prolapse), our osteopathic care in Milton Keynes can help ease tension, reduce nerve irritation, and support more comfortable movement.

Arthritic pain

Covers osteoarthritis and other age- or wear-related joint changes in areas such as hands, knees, hips, and feet. The aim is to reduce stiffness and discomfort, support joint mobility, and help you stay as active and independent as possible.

Sports and activity injuries

From sprains and muscle strains to overuse injuries in runners, gym-goers, and team sports players. Treatment looks at both the injured area and the way you move, to support healing, reduce the risk of flare-ups, and help you return safely to your sport or hobby.

Nerve-related pain (sciatica)

Includes symptoms such as shooting pain, tingling, or numbness in the arm or leg that may come from irritation or compression of a nerve. Assessment focuses on finding where the problem is coming from and using gentle techniques and advice to reduce pressure, calm symptoms, and improve function.

Headaches and migraines

Covers headaches and some migraines that are linked to tension or mechanical issues in the neck, upper back, or jaw. Treatment aims to ease muscle tension, improve joint movement, and address aggravating factors such as posture or stress.

Shoulder, arm, and hand problems

Includes conditions such as frozen shoulder, rotator cuff irritation, tennis or golfer’s elbow, and wrist or thumb pain. The goal is to restore as much pain free movement and strength as possible so you can lift, reach, and use your arms more comfortably.

Hip, knee, leg, and foot problems

Covers issues from hip and knee pain to shin, calf, ankle, or foot discomfort, whether from sports, walking, or everyday strain. Treatment looks at alignment, load, and gait to help reduce pain, support better biomechanics, and keep you mobile.

Postural and work-related strain

Relates to tension and pain from long periods of sitting, standing, or repetitive tasks, often affecting the neck, back, and shoulders. Care combines hands‑on treatment with practical advice on posture, ergonomics, and movement breaks to reduce recurring discomfort.

Pre- and post pregnancy discomfort

Includes back, pelvic, rib, and hip pain associated with pregnancy and the postnatal period. Gentle techniques and tailored advice are used to support comfort, mobility, and recovery while respecting the changing demands on the body.

Chronic and long term conditions

For ongoing conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, or long‑standing pain, where complete resolution may not be possible. Treatment focuses on easing tension, improving movement, pacing activity, and supporting overall quality of life alongside other medical care.

Support for babies and children

Gentle osteopathic approaches can be used to assess and treat babies and children, for example where there are concerns about tension, posture, or comfort. Treatment is adapted to be very soft and age‑appropriate, with plenty of time for explanation and parental questions. For more information on how we can help please click here

Mental and emotional load linked to pain

Although osteopathy does not treat mental health conditions directly, it recognises the close link between stress, pain, and how the body feels. Sessions can support relaxation, reduce physical tension, and provide simple strategies to help you feel more in control of your symptoms.
