OUR STORY

Lumena Clinic was founded with a clear vision – to create a space where every patient feels listened to, cared for, and supported on their journey to better health. What began as a small osteopathic practice has grown into a trusted clinic serving the Milton Keynes community and surrounding areas.

Built on a foundation of professional excellence and genuine compassion, Lumena Clinic continues to expand through the dedication of its team and the trust of our patients. Each year, we help hundreds of people – from newborns to active adults — overcome pain, restore balance, and move with confidence again.

Our approach combines clinical knowledge with a holistic understanding of the body. We believe that good health starts with movement and that every treatment should be personal, thoughtful, and effective. At Lumena Clinic, our story continues to evolve with one purpose in mind: putting your wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.

Joanna Rokosa - BOst (Hons) - Registered Osteopath

Joanna was born and raised in Poland, where she developed a lifelong interest in medicine and supporting others. Her first academic path reflected this passion. In 2010, she completed a degree in Dental Engineering (MSc) and began working as a dental technician, using her refined manual skills to design smiles tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

In 2011, she moved to London after receiving an offer to work in a dental laboratory. It was there that she first encountered osteopathy—an experience that instantly resonated with her. Osteopathy became the missing piece in her pursuit of optimal health and a holistic understanding of the body. After spending several years preparing for this new direction, she began her training and graduated with a BOst (Hons) from the London School of Osteopathy.

During her studies, Joanna developed a strong interest in visceral osteopathy, cranio-sacral approaches, and functional techniques. This passion naturally led her to work weekly with infants, children and their families in the student clinic. She continues to expand her knowledge through postgraduate paediatric osteopathy courses.

Joanna treats people of all ages with equal passion and joy—from newborns, through their parents, to their grandparents. Her techniques are gentle and soothing when the body requires a subtle approach, and more direct when necessary to achieve effective change.

Committed to continuous learning and the highest standards of care, Joanna is known for her perfectionism. She often jokes that life may be too short to learn everything she hopes to master. This passion drives her to constantly develop her skills so she can help as many people as possible. Her goal is to provide truly individualised, patient-centered treatment, combining precise manual techniques with evidence-based research to ease pain, improve function, and support every patient in becoming the best possible version of themselves.

Alongside science-based medicine, Joanna is also interested in Chinese medicine, homeopathy, and herbal therapy, appreciating complementary traditions that enrich her holistic approach to health.

Damian Rokosa - BOst (Hons) - Registered Osteopath

Damian’s path into healthcare began in 2010 with a degree in Dental Engineering, followed by several years working as a dental technician in London, where he developed precise manual skills and a strong appreciation for detail-qualities that would later become invaluable in his osteopathic practice.

After nearly a decade of preparation and reflection, he decided to pursue a career where he could work more directly with people and make a deeper impact on their wellbeing, joining the London School of Osteopathy and graduating  with a BOst (Hons); he is now a registered osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council.

Since beginning his journey in osteopathy, Damian has discovered not only a profession he loves, but also a deep sense of purpose: helping people-easing discomfort, improving function and offering reassurance-is something that genuinely fulfils him, and every day in clinic reminds him why he made the transition into healthcare and how privileged he feels to be part of his patients’ journeys towards better health and wellbeing.

Damian’s osteopathic practice is built on a simple foundation: every person deserves care that is tailored to their unique needs, and he takes pride in recognising what each body requires-sometimes a calm, delicate approach, and other times a more direct technique to create meaningful change-always with the aim of helping patients feel safe, heard and supported.

Throughout his clinical training he worked with a wide variety of patients, from young athletes and pregnant women to older adults, and each individual taught him something different about adaptability, sensitivity and respectful touch. He has a particular interest in visceral osteopathy, cranial approaches and high velocity thrust (HVT) techniques, areas that opened his eyes to the subtle yet powerful ways the body communicates and heals, and he remains fascinated by how different techniques can address a range of conditions as he tailors his approach to each person’s presentation and comfort level.
