Terms and Conditions
Appointment booking and confirmation
By booking an appointment with Lumena Clinic, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. All appointments are confirmed at the time of booking, and you will receive a confirmation via email and/or SMS. It is your responsibility to ensure that the contact details you provide are correct and that you receive our communications.
Cancellation and rescheduling policy
Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, or fail to attend without notice, you will be charged a cancellation fee equivalent to the full appointment cost. This fee must be paid before any future appointments can be booked. We understand that genuine emergencies may arise, and we will consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis at our discretion.
Consent to treatment and physical contact
During your consultation, you will be asked to give verbal consent before any treatment begins. You may be asked to undress to your underwear to allow the osteopath to assess and treat the areas of concern. You will always be offered a gown or towel for your comfort. You are entitled to stop the treatment at any time and for any reason. The osteopath will always explain what they are going to do before they do it, and you have the right to ask questions at any point. Physical contact is an essential part of osteopathic assessment and treatment, and you consent to this by agreeing to proceed with the consultation.
Your responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate and honest information about your medical history, current symptoms, and any medications you are taking. You agree to inform the osteopath of any changes in your health or any new symptoms that may arise between appointments. You agree to follow the advice and exercise plan provided to the best of your ability. If you do not understand something, you agree to ask for clarification.
Payment and fees
Payment is due at the time of your appointment unless otherwise agreed. We accept card payments, cash, and bank transfers. If you have a private health insurance policy, you are responsible for setting your bill and claiming reimbursement from your insurer. We do not submit claims on your behalf.
Late arrival
If you arrive late for your appointment, we will do our best to see you, but we may need to shorten your appointment to avoid disrupting subsequent patients. The full fee will still apply. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may not be able to see you, and the appointment may be treated as a missed session with the full cancellation fee applied.
Health and safety
By booking an appointment, you confirm that you are not aware of any reason why osteopathic treatment would be unsuitable for you. If you have any concerns, you are advised to consult your GP before your appointment. We reserve the right to refuse or modify treatment if we believe it is not in your best interest.
Pregnancy and children
If you are pregnant, or think you may be, please let us know when booking your appointment. For children under 16, a parent or guardian must remain in the clinic during the consultation.
Changes to these terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Any changes will be posted on our website and will apply to all appointments booked after the date of the update.
Acceptance
By booking an appointment with Lumena Clinic, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions. You agree that you will not dispute the fees or policies on the basis that you were not informed or did not agree.
Regulation of Osteopaths
All osteopaths in the UK are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). It is against the law for anyone to call themselves an osteopath unless they are registered with the GOsC, which sets and maintains high standards of competency, professional conduct, and patient safety.
